Trail Information

The Kudu Canter is a two-day boutique trail running event designed for the whole family to enjoy. While you take on our scenic trails, we’re happy to look after your children so you can run with peace of mind. Set in the foothills of the Central Drakensberg, the event is based on the historic Spionkop Dam, perfectly positioned halfway between Johannesburg and Durban.

Because the Kudu Canter takes place on our working farm, you’ll experience more than just running trails. Expect a true taste of farm life as you run alongside our Stud Brahman herd, weaving through single-track game paths and traditional cattle trails.

Our routes guide you around—and even through—Spionkop Dam itself, with an optional swim section for those looking to add something fun and truly unique to their run. Along the way, we encourage you to pause, breathe, and take in the exceptional views of the dam and surrounding mountains.

As the sun sets, the atmosphere shifts to relaxed and social. Unwind with fellow runners, share stories from the day, enjoy good music, and soak up the vibe. A basic on-site bar will be available, offering beers, ciders, wine, spirits, and cold drinks, and you’re welcome to bring your own as well.

Join us for a memorable weekend filled with good vibes, beautiful trails, family time, and delicious food—the kind of weekend you’ll want to come back for year after year.

Route Information

The ROute

Being situated on and around Spioenkop Dam we have the most exceptional views and tranquil surroundings. We would like to share our piece of paradise with fun-loving trail seekers and their families by hosting a two-day trail run.

As a passionate trail runner myself, I’ve carefully planned our routes to showcase the best views and scenic bushveld. We’ve worked to preserve the natural beauty of the terrain as much as possible. There is also an optional swim section on both days for those who enjoy a nice cool dip in Spionkop dam. The swim section is +-350 m.

New Trail routes are busy being thoughtfully planned, with fun and stunning views in mind! We will keep you all posted!
